SBSSU Ferozepur welcomes freshers with Week-Long Induction Training Programme
FEROZPUR, July 29, 2026: The Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU), Ferozepur, organized a grand inauguration for its week-long Induction Training Program designed for newly admitted first-year students of the 2026–27 batch. The initiative aims to help new students comfortably acclimate to the University environment, establish a healthy daily routine, and foster holistic personal development, academic awareness, and human values.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma, who extended a warm welcome to the incoming batch. In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the University is not merely an institution for obtaining degrees, but a dynamic platform for nurturing research, innovation, moral character, and social responsibility. He encouraged the freshers to approach their academic journey with discipline and positive thinking, assuring them of full institutional support. The Registrar assured new students of complete administrative support, strict academic discipline, and a nurturing environment for overall growth.
The opening day featured two expert sessions delivered by Dr. Sohan Singh, focusing on psychological aspects, mental well-being, stress management, and self-confidence.
Highlights of the Induction Training Program Schedule
The comprehensive week-long schedule incorporates interactive sessions, expert talks, physical activities, and institutional visits:
Day 1 (28.07.2026, Tuesday): Inaugural Ceremony with addresses by the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, followed by two expert lecture sessions on Psychology by Dr. Sohan Singh focusing on mental health, stress management, and self-confidence.
Day 2 (July 29, 2026): Interactions with the Dean Academics and Controller of Examinations (COE); expert lecture on "Personality of Success and Human Values" by Dr. Manvinder Kaur (Panjab University, Chandigarh); followed by a guided "Know Your University Campus" tour.
Day 3 (July 30, 2026): Orientation with the Dean Student Welfare (DSW), Sports Chair, and Hostel Wardens; expert talk by Dr. Naresh Raj; financial literacy session on "Importance of Banking and Escaping Frauds" by Mr. Rajesh Kumar (Branch Manager, Bank of India); concluding with a Campus Plantation Activity.
Day 4 (August 3, 2026): Briefing on student bodies and extra-curricular clubs (SECA, ISTE, NSS, Red Ribbon Club, EFG); expert lectures by Mr. Ishwar Sandhu and Dr. Anita Kakkar.
Day 5 (August 4, 2026): Interactions with the Training & Placement Officer (TPO) and NCC Incharge; an indoor Yoga session; expert talk on "Road Safety and Traffic Awareness" by Mr. Deepak Sharma; and a motivational session by Mr. Gurjeevan Singh.
August 5, 2026 Onwards: Transition to department-level activities and specialized orientation.
Program Coordinator Dr. Rakesh Kumar and the organizing committee outlined that these daily engagements—ranging from physical wellness and human values to campus familiarization—will ensure a smooth transition for the students.
The inaugural ceremony saw active participation from University Deans, Heads of Departments (HoDs), faculty, and staff members.
Concluding the inaugural proceedings, the coordination team expressed confidence that this structured program will set a strong, value-driven foundation for the freshers' academic and professional growth.
