Himachal: 26-yr-old truck driver killed after vehicle overturns into fields near Shimla

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), May 10, 2026:A 26-year-old truck driver lost his life in a tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district after his vehicle reportedly went out of control and overturned into fields in the Sunni area late Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Ravinder Thakur, a resident of Shoghi in Shimla district.
According to police, the accident took place near Badman Dhar under the jurisdiction of Sunni police station. Authorities received information around 1:30 am that a truck bearing registration number HP 64D-7299 had veered off the road and fallen into nearby fields.
Officials said the impact of the accident was severe, and the driver got trapped underneath the overturned truck.
A police team rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. With the help of local villagers and JCB machines, rescuers worked for nearly five hours to retrieve the driver from beneath the vehicle.
However, by the time he was pulled out on Sunday morning, he had succumbed to his injuries.
Police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
