Chandigarh Police, Bharatiya Sanskritik Gyan Sangathan hold tree plantation drive on World Environment Day

Chandigarh, June 7, 2026: To mark World Environment Day, the Indian Cultural Knowledge Organisation (Bharatiya Sanskritik Gyan Sangathan) joined hands with Chandigarh Police's Sector 34D unit to organise a tree plantation drive aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.
World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5, seeks to encourage people to protect the environment and take positive steps towards building a healthier and more sustainable future. The occasion also highlights pressing concerns such as deforestation, pollution, excessive exploitation of natural resources and global warming.

The plantation drive witnessed active participation from officials and personnel of Chandigarh Police's South Division. Those present included members of the SDPO South team led by Gurmeet Singh, ASI and Reader to SDPO South, along with Pushpinder Singh (MSC), members of the Samavesh Team, Head Constables Suman, Mahesh and Balwinder, and Constables Dinesh, Abhishek, Neha, Nikki, Sakshi, Pinky and Krishna.
Addressing the gathering, renowned social worker and founder of the Indian Cultural Knowledge Organisation, Anup Sareen, encouraged participants to actively engage in environmental conservation activities for a greener and brighter future. He also appealed to citizens to minimise the use of plastic and adopt environmentally friendly alternatives such as paper, cloth and jute bags.
Members of the organisation, including Shastri Jagdish, Sushil Bhatia, Ashok Sharma, Pilot Singh, Vishav Gupta, Naresh Goyal and Harish Chander Sharma, were also present on the occasion.
The organisers said the initiative was aimed at reinforcing the message that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and that collective efforts can contribute significantly towards a greener and healthier planet.
