Bathinda: In a gesture reflecting long-standing political and personal ties, Shiromani Akali Dal President and former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal, visited the Chandigarh residence of veteran Akali leader Bhupinder Singh Dhillon to inquire about his health and recovery following a recent spinal surgery.
During the visit, Sukhbir Singh Badal spent time with Dhillon and his family members, discussing his medical condition and ongoing recovery process. He wished him a speedy and complete recovery and expressed confidence that Dhillon would soon return to his active social and political engagements.
Sharing details of the meeting, Bhupinder Singh Dhillon said, "My nephew, Sukhbir Singh Badal, former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, visited my residence in Chandigarh and enquired about my health and well-being. I am grateful for his concern, affection, and support during this period of recovery."
The visit is being viewed as a reflection of the close relationship between the Badal family and Dhillon, who has remained associated with Punjab politics for decades.
Dhillon served as Political Secretary to the late former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and was regarded as one of the trusted members of his political team. Throughout his political career, he played an important role in coordinating administrative and political affairs and maintained close relations with party workers and leaders across the state.
Notably, this was not the first high-profile visit to Dhillon during his recuperation. A few days ago, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini also visited him to check on his health and recovery progress. During that meeting, Saini conveyed his best wishes for Dhillon's speedy recovery and appreciated his contribution to public life and regional politics.
Political leaders, social organizations, and well-wishers from Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh have been continuously reaching out to Bhupinder Singh Dhillon since his surgery. Many have visited him personally, while others have conveyed their wishes through phone calls and messages.
Known for his extensive experience and deep involvement in Punjab's political landscape, Bhupinder Singh Dhillon has earned respect across party lines. His association with the late Parkash Singh Badal and his role in public affairs over several decades have made him a well-recognized figure in the region's political circles.
As he continues his recovery, Dhillon has expressed gratitude to all those who have stood by him during this challenging period. Family members stated that his health is steadily improving and that he is responding positively to medical treatment and rehabilitation.
The visits by prominent leaders such as Sukhbir Singh Badal and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini underline the respect and goodwill Bhupinder Singh Dhillon commands among political leaders across the region, regardless of party affiliations.
