Punjab received over Rs 4.13 lakh crore from Centre in 12 years: BJP’s Kewal Singh Dhillon

Chandigarh, June 12, 2026: Punjab BJP President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon on Thursday claimed that Punjab has received financial assistance exceeding ₹4.13 lakh crore from the Centre during the 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, describing it as a period of unprecedented support and development for the state.
In a statement marking 12 years of the Modi-led government, Dhillon said Punjab had benefited through tax devolution, grants-in-aid, GST compensation and central loans. He stated that the state received over ₹1.84 lakh crore through tax devolution, ₹1.48 lakh crore in grants, nearly ₹40,000 crore as GST compensation, and more than ₹40,767 crore in loans and advances from the Centre.
Highlighting development initiatives, the Punjab BJP chief said the state has witnessed major investments in infrastructure, including ₹43,527 crore worth of National Highway projects and ₹34,488 crore in railway projects.
He also pointed to the implementation of welfare schemes such as PM-KISAN, Jal Jeevan Mission, and the National Health Mission.
Dhillon said more than 11 lakh farmers in Punjab have benefited under the PM-KISAN scheme, while over 17 lakh rural households have been provided tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
He further credited the Centre for strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Punjab through initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, AIIMS Bathinda, new medical colleges and more than 565 Jan Aushadhi Kendras providing affordable medicines.
The BJP leader asserted that the figures reflect the Centre's commitment to Punjab's development and welfare. He said the past 12 years have brought significant progress in infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, connectivity and social welfare, contributing to the state's overall growth.
