New Delhi, June 13, 2026: Acting on the directions of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Delhi Police has issued a comprehensive set of guidelines aimed at enhancing public safety, strengthening security measures, and improving traffic management across the national capital.
Under the new directives, both District and Traffic Police units will significantly increase their street presence and visibility. The Commissioner of Police has ordered joint foot patrolling by district and traffic personnel on both weekdays and weekends to boost citizen safety and maintain law and order.
To ensure greater focus on field duties, police personnel have been instructed to avoid office work and in-house meetings between 5 pm and 8 pm, a period considered crucial for traffic regulation and public security.
The guidelines also mandate coordinated patrolling by District and Traffic Police teams at least four days a week to identify and remove road obstructions and address traffic congestion.
Additionally, senior police officers will regularly interact with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Market Trade Associations (MTAs) to address local security concerns and traffic-related issues in their respective areas.
The initiative is aimed at creating a more visible, responsive, and citizen-centric policing system while ensuring smoother traffic flow across Delhi.
