Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Harpreet Pal Kaur informed that there is no shortage of urea fertilizer in the district for the upcoming Kharif season and the cultivation of paddy crop.
She stated that keeping in view the requirements of farmers; adequate stocks of urea fertilizer have been ensured at cooperative societies as well as private dealers across the district.
Dr. Harpreet Pal Kaur further said that complaints have been received from certain areas regarding the forced tagging of other products along with the sale of urea fertilizer. Such practices will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If any dealer is found compelling farmers to purchase other fertilizers, pesticides, or agricultural products along with urea fertilizer, strict action will be taken against them under the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985 and other relevant legal provisions.
She appealed to farmers not to panic or act on rumours by unnecessarily stocking urea fertilizer. Purchasing fertilizer strictly according to actual requirements will help ensure its timely availability to all farmers.
She also advised that if any farmer faces forced tagging or any other irregularity during the purchase of urea fertilizer, they should immediately contact their nearest Agriculture Office or Agriculture Development Officer so that appropriate action can be taken promptly.
