Mumbai/Nanded Sahib, June 24, 2026: Maharashtra Government has prepared a proposal to repeal 70 year old Nanded Sikh Gurdwara Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Act 1956 and new act would be named as Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Gurdwara Act.
Giani Kulwant Singh Jathedar of Takht Nanded Sahib and Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly opposed the action of the Maharashtra government and demanded that Sikh bodies should be consulted first before moving any amendment.
According to Maharashtra Government proposal, this new draft will be place in Assembly to make it an act.
It is worth mentioning here that earlier too Maharashtra Government had mooted a proposal to increase Government representatives to 12 out of total 14 which was opposed by Sikh organisations including SGPC forcing Maharashtra government to abandon the proposal.
