Ambala (Haryana), June 30, 2026: A four-year-old boy fell into an open borewell in Dhanora village of Haryana's Ambala district early Tuesday morning, triggering a massive rescue operation involving the Army, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police and the district administration.
According to initial reports, the child fell into the borewell, estimated to be around 220 feet deep, at approximately 6 am. The borewell, located in an agricultural field, had reportedly been left uncovered by a farmer.
Teams from the Army, NDRF, local police and the district administration rushed to the spot and launched an intensive rescue operation. Authorities are using specialised equipment and coordinating efforts to safely bring the child out of the borewell.
Officials have not yet released any information regarding the child's condition as the rescue operation remains in progress.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over the dangers posed by abandoned or uncovered borewells and the need for strict implementation of safety measures to prevent such accidents.
