DC Ferozepur reviews road construction projects, stresses quality and timely completion
Ferozepur, July 14, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting at the District Administrative Complex to assess the progress of ongoing road construction and repair works across Ferozepur district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Dr. Amandeep Kaur, along with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Municipal Council.
Reviewing the status of ongoing projects, the Deputy Commissioner took detailed feedback from the concerned departments regarding the execution and progress of road construction works in the city. Special emphasis was laid on the development and improvement of the Circular Road and other important internal roads.
The review comes at a time when Punjab is witnessing a large-scale road infrastructure upgrade, with the state government undertaking the repair and strengthening of over 45,000 km of link and main roads. In Ferozepur, the recently launched road projects include the 4.40-km stretch from Kasuri Gate to Bare Ke Chowk and the 1.65-km road from Qila Wala Chowk to Basti Bhattian Wali, being constructed at an estimated cost of ₹1.71 crore. Work is also progressing on the ₹310-crore four-lane bypass, which is expected to ease heavy traffic around the city.
DC directed officials to conduct regular inspections of all ongoing road works to ensure high construction standards and prevent any compromise in quality. She also instructed departments to maintain close coordination with the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board and other concerned agencies so that utility-related issues are addressed before road construction is completed, thereby avoiding future inconvenience to the public.
She further directed that all road projects be completed within the stipulated timelines while strictly adhering to quality norms. She reiterated that providing citizens with durable and efficient infrastructure remains a top priority of the district administration and called upon all departments to work in close coordination for the timely completion of development works.
