Shambhu Border, July 22, 2026: Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher on Wednesday said protesting farmers were stopped by authorities at the Shambhu border and have placed two key demands before officials.
Pandher said the farmers are seeking a discussion on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the proposed India-US trade deal, which they claim could adversely impact the farming community.
The second demand is the immediate release of all detained farmer protesters, he added.
Pandher said a meeting scheduled for later in the day will determine the future course of the agitation, including plans to expand the farmers' protest across the country.
