Babusahahi Bureau
Patti (Tarn Taran), July 22: Members of various farmer organisations on Wednesday staged a protest by shutting down the Bhagupur toll plaza in Punjab's Tarn Taran district, raising slogans against the Centre over the proposed India-US trade agreement.
Addressing the gathering, Sohan Singh Sabra, Block Patti President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan), along with other farmer leaders, alleged that the proposed trade pact would adversely affect farmers, labourers and small traders.
The protesting leaders warned that if the Centre fails to withdraw the proposed agreement and address the farmers' pending demands, they would intensify their agitation in the coming days.
The protest disrupted toll operations for several hours as farmers continued their demonstration at the plaza.
