Food Safety Team raids Aadhar Super Market in Ferozepur; samples seized, expired items found
Ferozepur, July 28, 2026: Acting on repeated complaints regarding the quality of food products, the Food Safety Department conducted a surprise inspection at Aadhar Super Market in Ferozepur city on Monday and collected samples of various food items for laboratory testing.
Earlier also, the Food Safety Department team had conducted a surprise inspection at a Blink outlet and uncovered several serious violations, including the storage of expired food products, unhygienic conditions, and improper handling of food items.
Food Safety Officer Abhinav Khosla said the inspection was carried out following continuous complaints received by the department. During the checking, samples of pulses and several other food products were collected, sealed and sent to the laboratory for detailed examination.
According to the officer, a considerable quantity of food items was found to be expired during the inspection. The department also noticed certain practices concerning the storage of food products that could potentially compromise their quality. However, the final status of the sampled products will be established only after the laboratory reports are received.
Khosla said the team also noticed medicines or chemical substances being kept along with food items, including pulses. He termed such practices a serious concern and said proper knowledge and guidance regarding food storage and quality standards was essential for those handling food products.
He said the concerned online store owners and operators should ensure that their staff are properly trained and guided before being assigned duties involving food handling and storage.
The Food Safety Officer made it clear that no compromise would be tolerated with public health. If the laboratory reports confirm that any food product fails to meet prescribed quality standards or that food safety regulations have been violated, appropriate legal action will be initiated against the persons concerned under the Food Safety Act.
The department also appealed to consumers to check the expiry date, packaging and quality of food products before purchasing them and immediately report any suspicious or substandard product to the Food Safety Department.
