Ferozepur cracks down on unauthorised colonies, demolishes illegal structures, recommends FIRs against developers

Ferozepur, July 28, 2026: Continuing its crackdown on unauthorised colonies and illegal construction, the Ferozepur administration on Tuesday demolished unauthorised colonies in Satiya Wala and Malwal areas of the district.
The demolition drive was carried out in compliance with orders issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G), Ferozepur-cum-Competent Authority, Amandeep Kaur. The Revenue Department, police force and enforcement team of the Office of District Town Planner (Regulatory), Ferozepur, jointly carried out the action.
During the drive, roads, passages and sewer lines developed in the unauthorised colonies were dismantled, along with illegal constructions and structures raised at the sites. The action was taken against developers who allegedly continued construction despite notices issued by the authorities.
ADC said the administration had adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards unauthorised and unplanned development, particularly illegal colonies. She said a special drive had been launched to take punitive action against those allegedly misleading residents by offering cheaper plots in colonies lacking statutory approval and compliance with government norms.
The administration is also planning more demolition drives in the coming weeks to check the mushrooming of unauthorised colonies at the initial stage.
Appealing to the public, the ADC advised prospective buyers not to purchase plots or properties in unauthorised colonies, as such colonies may not receive basic facilities such as water supply, sewerage and electricity connections. Buyers have been advised to verify the list of approved and regularised colonies and sanctioned maps available on the official website of the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) before making any purchase.
ADC also said that, besides demolition action, filing of FIRs against developers of unauthorised colonies in Ferozepur district had been recommended.
