Chandigarh, August 5, 2026: Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Wednesday dismissed reports of internal divisions within the Punjab Congress, saying there was no major dispute or factionalism in the party and that any differences would be resolved soon.
Randhawa said the Congress is a strong and democratic party where leaders are free to express their views. He added that differences of opinion should not be interpreted as evidence of a major conflict or factionalism within the party.
He expressed confidence that the party’s senior leadership would address all concerns through dialogue and that the Punjab Congress would emerge stronger and more united.
Clarifying reports related to former Punjab Congress president and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Randhawa said Channi had never demanded the resignation of Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
He described such reports as baseless and said they were creating unnecessary confusion.
Randhawa said all Congress leaders remain committed to maintaining the party’s unity and strengthening its organisation. He added that the party’s primary focus is to raise issues concerning the people of Punjab and work collectively in the interests of the state.
