SBSSU organises ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ programme to sensitise youth against drug abuse
Ferozepur, July 5, 2026: Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU), organised the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ programme to sensitise young people about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage them to contribute towards building a drug-free and developed India.
The programme was organised with enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, NSS Programme Officers, faculty members and students from various departments. The initiative aimed at motivating youth to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle and play an active role in nation-building.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma participated virtually in the programme and stressed the need for organising more awareness and de-addiction programmes in the future. The event was held in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, as part of the nationwide campaign to create awareness among youth about the ill-effects of drug abuse.
University Registrar Prof. Rajiv Arora and National Award winner and Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary), Ferozepur, Dr. Satinder Singh attended the programme as Chief Guests.
In his address, Dr. Satinder Singh highlighted the damaging impact of drug addiction on individuals, families and society. He urged students to become ambassadors of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ by spreading awareness about the dangers of drugs in society.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rajiv Arora appreciated the efforts of Dr. Kamal Khanna, NSS Programme Coordinator; Rahul Chopra, NSS Programme Officer, Unit-II; Jasvir Chand, NSS Programme Officer, Unit-I; and Anuradha Rani, NSS Programme Officer, NSS Poly Wing, for their dedicated planning and teamwork in making the programme a success.
The programme received an encouraging response and reflected SBSSU’s commitment to youth empowerment, social awareness and nation-building through the coordinated efforts of its NSS and NCC units.
