Nankana Sahib pilgrims asked to submit documents to Bhai Mardana Society by Aug 22
Ferozepur, August 11: The International Bhai Mardana Society will send a jatha of devotees from India to Nankana Sahib in Pakistan on the occasion of the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in November this year.
Giving this information, Society president Jagjit Singh Bhullar said that the society could not send a jatha during the last four occasions due to directions of the Government of India. However, this year, the society has decided to facilitate devotees wishing to undertake the pilgrimage to Nankana Sahib.
Bhullar said that devotees interested in travelling with the jatha may submit their passport, two passport-size photographs, a photocopy of the passport and a photocopy of their Aadhaar card at the office of the International Bhai Mardana Society, Ramgarhia Nagar, Ferozepur City, by August 22.
He said he had been in Delhi for the past two-three days and had held discussions with the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the proposed jatha. He said the society had been assured that it could send the jatha and that the necessary verification would be carried out.
Bhullar appealed to devotees desirous of visiting Nankana Sahib to submit their required documents before August 22. He said Nankana Sahib holds immense religious significance for Sikhs and every Sikh has a desire to pay obeisance at the birthplace of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
He also appealed to the governments to facilitate the visit of as many devotees as possible to Nankana Sahib on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Parkash Purab.
Bhullar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for permitting Sikh jathas to travel to Pakistan for religious pilgrimages. He said such opportunities were of great importance for the Sikh community.
