Sri Muktsar Sahib, August 15:
On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Durgesh Siwal, Lady President of the District Red Cross Society, Sri Muktsar Sahib, and wife of Mr. Amit Kumar Panchal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner-cum-President of the District Red Cross Society, visited the Old Age Home in the city.
During the visit, Mrs. Siwal interacted with the 38 elderly residents of the Old Age Home and enquired about their health, well-being and problems. Extending warm Independence Day greetings, she distributed sweets and fruits among the residents.
She also held discussions with the office-bearers of the Old Age Home regarding the care and welfare of the elderly, their living arrangements and other facilities being provided to them. She assured that their concerns would be given due consideration.
On the occasion, Mrs. Siwal also distributed five tricycles to persons with disabilities. Sewing machines were also distributed to widow women to help create employment opportunities and support their livelihoods.
The office-bearers of the Old Age Home expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Lady President for her visit and for extending support to the elderly and other needy sections of society.
Among those present on the occasion were Boota Ram Kamra, Jagpreet Chhabra, Leeladhar Gupta, Gulshan Bhatia, Baljit Singh,. Jaswinder Singh and other office-bearers of the District Red Cross Society.
