ANTF Ferozepur Range busts two major narco-arms modules, four arrested
Ferozepur, August 22, 2026: In a major crackdown on organised narco-terror, illegal arms syndicates and prison-operated criminal networks, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Ferozepur Range, has busted two major modules in the past 72 hours, arresting four key operatives and recovering 6.465 kg of heroin, two sophisticated pistols and two vehicles.
The operations were carried out under the leadership of Superintendent of Police, ANTF Ferozepur Range, Gurinderbir Singh Sidhu, PPS, in close coordination with a Central Agency.
In the first operation, the ANTF intercepted an inter-district narcotics trafficking consignment and arrested Ajay Chumber, a resident of Moli village in Phagwara, and Sharandeep Singh alias Sunny of Nihalgarh Nawan Pind, Phagwara. The team recovered 5.530 kg of heroin and a Toyota Etios car bearing registration number PB10DR8501.
A case, FIR No. 182 dated August 19, 2026, under Section 21 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station ANTF, SAS Nagar.
During sustained interrogation, the accused revealed backward links to two undertrial prisoners allegedly operating the logistics network from inside New District Jail, Nabha. They have been identified as Prince, a resident of Village Pandva, Phagwara, against whom nine FIRs are registered, and Ajit Singh alias Happy of Habib Wala village, Ferozepur, who has two FIRs registered against him. Both are to be brought on production warrants for further investigation.
The operation was conducted by SI Satpal and his team under the supervision of DSP Pirthipal Singh, PPS.
In the second operation, the ANTF, acting on intelligence shared by a Central Agency, intercepted an alleged arms and narcotics module linked to accused in the Ferozepur triple murder case. The suspects reportedly attempted to flee, leading to a hot pursuit through Ludhiana city before their vehicle was intercepted.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rohit of Gol Bagh, Ferozepur City, and Gurpreet Singh of Village Jaid, Kapurthala, who has three FIRs registered against him.
The team recovered two sophisticated pistols — one Pakistan-made DR1 pistol and one .30-bore 14-shot Chinese pistol — along with a Mahindra Thar ROXX. During custodial interrogation, 935 grams of heroin was subsequently recovered on August 21.
A case, FIR No. 285 dated August 20, 2026, under relevant provisions of the Arms Act and BNS, with applicable sections of the NDPS Act added following the recovery, has been registered at Police Station City Ferozepur.
Interrogation has further revealed alleged links to Ravinder Singh alias Ravi alias Sukh of Bag Wali Basti, Ferozepur City, who has 12 FIRs registered against him and is a prime accused in the Ferozepur triple murder case registered vide FIR No. 344 dated September 3, 2024. Another alleged jail-based operative, Akhil Sabarwal alias Prince of Kati Mohalla, Ludhiana, who has eight FIRs registered against him, has also surfaced during the investigation. Both are lodged in Gurdaspur Jail and are suspected of operating the module from inside the prison.
The second operation was conducted by SI Chander Shekhar and ASI Parminder Singh with their team under the supervision of DSP Satpal Singh, PPS.
The combined recoveries in the two operations include 6.465 kg of heroin, two sophisticated firearms and two vehicles, while four accused have been arrested.
Police remand of all four arrested persons is being sought to establish the wider forward and backward linkages. Investigators are particularly focusing on tracing the supply chain of the recovered .30-bore weapons, identifying handlers allegedly operating from inside Gurdaspur Jail and tracking the financial and hawala channels supporting the consignments.
Further arrests and significant disclosures are expected as the investigation progresses.
