Breaking: Punjab Govt orders show-cause notices to employees absent during Aug 27 strike

Chandigarh, August 29, 2026: The Punjab Government has taken a strict view of the government employees’ strike held on August 27 and ordered the issuance of show-cause notices to employees who remained absent from duty without authorisation.
According to the directions, employees found to be “unauthorisedly absent” from their duties during the strike will be issued show-cause notices. The government’s move comes after a large number of government employees participated in the strike on August 27 over their various demands.
The concerned departments have been directed to initiate action against employees who remained absent from duty without prior permission or approval.
Further action against the employees will be taken based on their responses to the show-cause notices.
