Chandigarh, August 30, 2026: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon and BJP national vice-president Manpreet Singh Badal on Sunday joined party leaders and workers to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 137th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at an event organised in Jhajheri village in the Kharar Assembly constituency of Mohali district.
Addressing party workers after the programme, Dhillon said ‘Mann Ki Baat’ had grown beyond being a radio programme and had become an important platform for nation-building, public participation and social awareness.
He said the Prime Minister had consistently used the programme to raise awareness about issues including water conservation, cleanliness, environmental protection, women’s empowerment, self-reliance, promotion of local products, science and innovation, and social responsibility.
“These messages are not only giving a new direction to society but also inspiring the youth to contribute towards the nation’s progress,” Dhillon said.
Dhillon Targets AAP Over Drug Menace
Speaking on the issue of drug abuse highlighted by the Prime Minister, Dhillon appealed to people from all sections of society to support the ‘Nasha-Mukt Bharat’ campaign and the ‘Nasha-Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ initiative.
He said Punjab had a particular need for a sustained campaign against drug abuse, alleging that the drug problem had worsened under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Dhillon recalled the AAP government’s earlier claim of making Punjab drug-free within three months and alleged that the situation had instead deteriorated during its tenure.
“Punjab needs a double-engine BJP government to make the state drug-free. Only the BJP can eradicate this social evil,” he said.
Dhillon urged families, educational institutions, community organisations and other sections of society to join efforts to protect young people from drug abuse.
He said the Prime Minister also touched upon issues concerning women’s empowerment, farmers, agriculture and weaker sections, reflecting the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
BJP national vice-president Manpreet Singh Badal, state vice-president Ranjit Singh Gill and district BJP president Sanjeev Vishisht were among those present at the programme.
The participants listened to the Prime Minister’s address and resolved to take the key messages of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ to people across Punjab.
