Zirakpur/Dera Bassi, September 9, 2026: Senior BJP leader from the Dera Bassi constituency, Gurdarshan Singh Saini, held a special meeting with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at his residence. Prominent New Jersey-based businessman and Commissioner of the New Jersey India Commission, Bikram Gill, along with Hardeep Singh Saini, was also specially present at the meeting. The discussions focused in detail on the BJP’s position in the Dera Bassi constituency and ways to promote foreign investment in Punjab and India.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that the family of late Gurnam Singh Saini had been serving the people of the Dera Bassi constituency for a long time, and Gurdarshan Singh Saini, along with his team, was now carrying forward this service effectively. Urging the people of Dera Bassi to remain confident, he claimed that the BJP would register a resounding victory from the constituency in the forthcoming elections.
Expressing concern over the situation in Punjab, the Chief Minister said that the present government had completely stalled the state’s development over the past four-and-a-half years. Law and order in Punjab had deteriorated, while the worsening economic situation was forcing the state’s youth and children to leave their families and migrate abroad. He said that to secure the future of the children and transform Punjab once again into a “golden bird,” there was a need to entrust the BJP with the leadership of the state in 2027.
During the meeting, Bikram Singh Gill, head of Gill Energy, a leading oil-retailing company operating in the New York and New Jersey areas of the United States, shared his views on investment opportunities in India. He said that, as Commissioner of the New Jersey India Commission, his responsibility was to facilitate investment in India by businesses from the United States.
Gill said that an American delegation was not willing to invest in Punjab due to the lack of a conducive and attractive business environment in the state. Instead, because of the absence of a suitable investment climate here, investors had to turn towards states such as Gujarat, Bengaluru, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
He said that investment in areas including pharmaceuticals, AI technology, warehousing, food processing and medical equipment manufacturing, among several other sectors, could not only contribute to the country’s economic growth but also generate employment opportunities in the region. He added that investors turning away due to the failures of the Punjab government was a matter of serious concern for the state.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini highly appreciated the initiative undertaken by Gurdarshan Singh Saini and Bikram Singh Gill. He assured that as soon as a BJP government was formed in Punjab next year, all necessary approvals for industrial investment would be provided within just 10 days, so that the path for business and investment in the state could be streamlined.
