Chandigarh, September 9, 2026: The Shiromani Akali Dal today said the morale of Punjab Police had hit rock bottom down due to excessive politicisation of the police force in the border State due to open threats being issues to senior police officers by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders.
Disclosing this, SAD Chief Spokesman Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kler and IT wing head Nashattar Singh said it was shocking to note that when elections were round the corner AAP leaders had stepped up their pressure on the police force and was forcing the police to work according to their directions or face the music. He said these leaders were visiting police stations and threatening senior police officers including IPS officers to work as per their dictates.
Showing videos of AAP halqa incharge Talbir Singh Gill and others, Advocate Kler said these AAP leaders were interfering in the working of the police force. He said whenever any drug smuggler was arrested such AAP leaders reached police stations to free them and in case the police officers did not follow their dictates they threatened with dire consequences. He also cited cases in which smugglers when arrested with heavy quantities of drugs, received immediate help from the AAP leaders.
He said that due to these conditions Law and Order had totally collapsed in the state. He said police stations were facing grenade attacks and even rocket launcher attacks.
Demanding a White paper on total quantity of drugs seized by the Punjab Police during the tenure of AAP, Advocate Kler said that this was very essential because AAP leaders were minting huge amount of money by patronizing these drug smugglers and had made huge properties in their name.
Responding to a media query, the SAD leader said that AAP was doing politics on dead bodies as they used brute police to forcibly cremate Gulzar Singh yesterday in Dirba whereas his family cried for seeing his face for one last time.
