Ludhiana Breaking: Police exchange fire with suspected gangsters near Atma Park, area sealed

Ludhiana (Punjab), September 13, 2026: Panic gripped the area around Atma Park in Ludhiana on Sunday after an exchange of gunfire reportedly took place between a police team and suspected gangsters.
According to preliminary information, the suspected gangsters allegedly opened fire when they encountered the police team, prompting retaliatory firing by the police in self-defence.
Two suspected gangsters were reportedly injured in the exchange of fire, though police have not yet officially confirmed the number of injured persons or provided details about their identities.
The operation is reportedly being carried out by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF). Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and launched a detailed investigation.
Senior police officers, including Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, reached the spot along with forensic teams. Investigators were seen examining the scene and collecting evidence as part of the probe.
Some people present in the area claimed that a confrontation between two groups of youths had taken place shortly before the firing. However, this aspect has not been officially confirmed by the police.
