Haryana CM Saini visits Guruharsahai, calls for collective fight against drugs
Ferozepur, September 16, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday visited Guruharsahai in Ferozepur district and addressed a religious gathering at Baba Ram Thamman Ashram in Bajeke village.
During his address, Saini spoke over the issues of drug abuse and unemployment. According to a report by UNI, he said that promises made regarding employment and eradication of drugs had not translated into the expected change on the ground.
The Haryana Chief Minister said the problem of drug abuse could not be tackled by the government alone. He called for collective efforts by families, religious institutions and social organisations to protect the younger generation from addiction.
He urged society to encourage youngsters to take up sports and education and remain away from drugs. He also stressed the role of religious and social institutions in guiding youth towards constructive activities.
Saini's remarks come amid continuing political debate in Punjab over drug abuse and the government's efforts to address the issue.
The Haryana Chief Minister has also previously emphasised the need to keep the younger generation away from drugs and encourage them towards sports, education, yoga, spirituality and nation-building.
