₹42.99-Lakh drug haul in Ferozepur raids; Records found flawed
Ferozepur, September 19, 2026: The Health Department’s Drug Control team conducted surprise raids at medical stores and a drug warehouse in Ferozepur and seized irregular medicines and MTP kits worth approximately ₹42.99 lakh.
The action was carried out under the directions of Civil Surgeon Ferozepur Dr Parminder Singh and Zonal Licensing Authority Lakhwant Singh. A joint team comprising Drug Control Officers Sonia Gupta of Ferozepur, Harjinder Singh of Faridkot and Harita Bansal of Fazilka conducted inspections under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
The team first inspected M/s Pill Club at Ferozepur City. During the checking of purchase and sale records, major discrepancies were detected and the proprietor failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.
The team seized five types of allopathic medicines, including 14,100 tablets and 7,920 MTP kits, with a total value of around ₹30,24,380.
The team subsequently raided the warehouse of M/s R.S. Pharma located at Gobar Mandi. Here too, discrepancies were found in the stock and purchase-sale records. Eight types of medicines were seized, including 1,511 MTP kits, 44,400 capsules and 1,569 tablets, valued at approximately ₹12,75,698.
The total value of the medicines and MTP kits seized during the operation stood at ₹42,99,978.
Drug Control Officer Sonia Gupta said further investigation was underway and necessary departmental and legal action was being initiated against the concerned firms under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
