ED raids continue in GMADA office for the last 36 hrs, officials expected to stay in office tonight too; Watch Video

Mohali (Punjab), September 23, 2026: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) search operation at the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) office continued for more than 36 hours on Wednesday, with officials expected to remain at the office overnight as well.
According to information available, the ED teams have been conducting searches at the GMADA office since around 11:30 am on Tuesday. Officials have been examining records, documents and computer systems and questioning staff members.
Mattresses and other essential items were reportedly brought to the GMADA office, indicating that the ED team may continue the operation through the night.
The ED also expanded its searches to Chandigarh, where a senior Punjab cadre IAS officer’s residence in Sector 19 was searched on Wednesday. Documents at the residence were reportedly examined by the agency.
The ED also reportedly searched the residence of a person related to a Punjab minister. Details about the specific case or reasons for the search were not immediately available.
AAP Accuses BJP of Using Central Agencies
Reacting to the ED action, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the BJP-led Central Government of using central agencies to create an atmosphere of fear in Punjab ahead of elections.
AAP alleged that the action was aimed at putting pressure on Punjab Government officials and claimed that similar agency action had taken place before the Delhi elections.
The party said the prolonged search at GMADA could affect the functioning of the authority, which is responsible for planned development and resource mobilisation in Mohali. The BJP’s response to the AAP’s allegations was not immediately available.
