Dr. Manmohan Singh’s simplicity and honesty continue to inspire, says Pargat Singh after meeting Gursharan Kaur

Chandigarh, October 4, 2026: Newly appointed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Pargat Singh on Sunday met Gursharan Kaur, wife of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, and sought her blessings.
During the meeting, Pargat Singh presented Gursharan Kaur with a bouquet and recalled the former Prime Minister’s contribution to the country.
“Dr. Manmohan Singh’s simplicity, honesty and dedication have always been a source of inspiration for me,” Pargat Singh said.
He added that Dr. Manmohan Singh served the country with simplicity and humility and that there was much to learn from his life and personality.
Pargat Singh was appointed Punjab Congress president on October 2, replacing Amarinder Singh Raja Warring. The Jalandhar Cantt MLA and former Indian hockey captain has since begun meeting senior Congress leaders following his appointment.
He has met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Punjab affairs in-charge Sachin Pilot to discuss matters concerning the party’s state unit.
Following his appointment, Pargat Singh said he would approach his new responsibility as a team captain and work to take party leaders and workers along. He has also said the Punjab Congress would raise issues concerning the people of the state and seek to become their voice.
