New Delhi, October 5, 2026: Punjab Congress President Pargat Singh said that the battle in Punjab is a battle of humanity and ideology. He said that there are people belonging to every ideology in the country, but one party is involved in looting while the other is engaged in dividing people.
He was talking to media after meeting Rahul Gandhi and Malikarjun Kharge.
Attack on the AAP and the Chief Minister’s Office over corruption:
Reacting to the statements made by AAP leader Aman Arora, Pargat Singh said that there is no answer to slogans and jokes. He said that when the links of corruption reach directly to the Chief Minister’s Office, the real face of those who claim to practise clean politics stands exposed.
Targeting the government and Election Commission over ‘vote theft’:
Taking an aggressive stand on the issue of vote theft, Pargat Singh said that the deletion of the names of 13 crore people in the country is a very big conspiracy. He termed it a dictatorship of the present government and said that a case of treason should be registered against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
On ED raids and the Supreme Court:
Commenting on the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids, Pargat Singh said that the government now has no other option and therefore it will approach the Supreme Court. He said that the action is being taken following court orders.
Strategy regarding assuming the new office:
Regarding assuming the new position on the first day of Navratri, Pargat Singh said that an important meeting would be held tomorrow. The date for travelling to Punjab and formally assuming charge would be decided only after discussions in the meeting.
