Chandigarh, October 9, 2026: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Friday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of betraying state employees over pending Dearness Allowance (DA) dues, saying the Chief Secretary’s apology before the Punjab and Haryana High Court exposed the government’s failure to honour its commitments.
Dhillon alleged that the Bhagwant Mann-led government was prolonging the matter through its legal proceedings instead of clearing employees’ outstanding dues. He claimed that the government wanted to delay the issue until the elections.
The BJP leader said his party had consistently raised the issue of pending DA payments. He alleged that the state government had made deliberate mistakes in its petition before the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s order, an allegation that could not be independently verified.
“Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will eventually have to apologise to employees for betraying their trust,” Dhillon said.
Questioning the government’s spending priorities, he alleged that crores of rupees were being spent on advertisements while employees continued to wait for their DA arrears.
Dhillon also accused the AAP government of failing to address issues related to drug abuse and law and order in Punjab. He said the government had made extensive promises to different sections of society before coming to power but had failed to fulfil them.
He added that employees had been forced to approach the courts to seek their legitimate dues and claimed that voters would hold the government accountable for its unfulfilled promises in the upcoming elections.
