Ferozepur, October 23: As part of the Punjab Government’s ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, special camps are being organised in drug hotspot areas of Ferozepur district to create awareness about employment opportunities and skill development programmes. More than 200 people have participated in these camps, while 35 youths have registered for skill development courses.
The camps are being organised under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma. The District Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Bureau (DBEE), Ferozepur, is coordinating the initiative, with duties assigned to departmental officers and employees under the guidance of the ADC (D)-cum-CEO, DBEE.
Giving details, Placement Officer Gurjant Singh said the main objective of these camps was to inform young people about employment opportunities and skill development courses and encourage them to become self-reliant. He added that equipping youth with employable skills and creating job opportunities could also help steer them away from drug abuse.
He said camps had already been organised in several villages and localities, including Araiyan Wala, Dona Mattar, Gatti Mattar, Basti Jhawala, Basti Derian Wali, Hardasa, Kassoana, Ghall Khurd and Bazidpur.
