1993-batch IPS officer appointed as Director General, Bureau of Police Research and Development

New Delhi, July 6, 2026: The Central government has approved the appointment of Alok Kumar Mittal, a 1993-batch IPS officer of the Haryana cadre, as the Director General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).
According to an official order, Mittal has been appointed to the post in Level-16 of the Pay Matrix. His tenure will commence from the date he assumes charge and will continue until June 30, 2029, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Mittal is currently serving in the Haryana cadre and will head the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), the Union government's premier organisation responsible for police reforms, research, training and modernization of police forces across the country.
