Ferozepur, September 10: With floodwaters gradually receding, the Punjab Government and Ferozepur district administration have intensified relief and rehabilitation efforts to support affected families.
Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma said that revenue officials are conducting ground-level surveys to assess crop losses, damaged houses, and other hardships. “No farmer whose crops have been damaged will be left without compensation,” she assured.
So far, 8,657 ration kits have been distributed by the Food and Civil Supplies Department, while Markfed has provided 13,692 bags of cattle feed. Essential supplies, medicines, tarpaulins, and fodder for livestock are also being delivered to families and animals in relief camps.
Health teams are carrying out fogging and organising medical camps to prevent vector-borne and waterborne diseases. Directions have also been issued for road repairs and ensuring an uninterrupted drinking water supply.
On the water situation, the DC said that levels at Harike and Hussainiwala headworks are steadily declining, with 200,103 cusecs released from Harike and 216,685 cusecs from Hussainiwala today. She called the receding water “a relief” for nearby villages.
