Bathinda, June 25:
The impact of the Election Commission's ambitious house-to-house voter enumeration drive was clearly visible across Bathinda city on Thursday as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) fanned out across residential localities on the very first day of the campaign.
Launched as part of the ongoing voter verification and enumeration exercise, the drive witnessed BLOs reaching doorsteps in several wards of the city, distributing pre-printed Enumeration Forms and informing residents about the importance of accurate voter records. The extensive field presence of election staff reflected the meticulous planning and large-scale preparations undertaken by the Punjab election authorities.
A firsthand glimpse of the campaign was witnessed when BLO Balakaran Singh knocked on the door of Babushahi Special Correspondent APS Sidhu. During the visit, the BLO explained the purpose of the enumeration exercise, guided the household on how to fill the form correctly, and highlighted the significance of ensuring that every eligible citizen is properly included in the electoral roll.
Reports from various parts of Bathinda indicated similar activity, with BLOs making door-to-door visits and interacting with residents. In many neighbourhoods, citizens were seen receiving forms and seeking clarification regarding voter details, corrections, and enrolment procedures.
The enthusiasm and efficiency displayed by the BLOs on the opening day suggested that the Election Commission's preparations had been carried out on a war footing. Their active presence in the field reassured citizens that the voter enumeration exercise was being conducted in a systematic and comprehensive manner.
If the momentum witnessed on the first day continues, the drive is expected to achieve extensive coverage across Bathinda, ensuring that electoral rolls remain accurate, updated, and inclusive. The strong start has already sent a positive message about the Punjab Election Commission's commitment to reaching every household and every eligible voter and ensuring no eligible voter is left out.
