From Boats to Doorsteps; BLOs navigate Sutlej waters for successful SIR 2026
Ferozepur, July 8, 2026: In a powerful display of commitment, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in Ferozepur district are crossing the Sutlej River using boats and tractors to reach remote villages, ensuring no household is left behind in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls.
As per the Election Commission’s schedule, BLOs are conducting house-to-house visits from June 25 to July 24, 2026. The period for filing claims and objections will remain open from August 3 to September 2, 2026, with disposal of claims and objections continuing till September 28, 2026.
The dedicated officers are going door-to-door, assisting eligible voters in filling and submitting Enumeration Forms despite challenging terrain and water barriers.
Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, highlighted their extraordinary efforts in a Facebook post: “No distance is too far, and no obstacle is too difficult for our BLOs. They are reaching every household to ensure that every eligible voter can submit the Enumeration Form.” The campaign has seen inspiring contributions from BLOs across Punjab, including Vikram Singh (Bharyal) and Darshan Kumar (Toor) from Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district, as well as Pushpa and Darshan Singh from Kalu Wala (Ferozepur). Citizens have been urged to support the BLOs by extending full cooperation and completing the enumeration process within the given timeline.
In a proud moment for Ferozepur, DEO-cum-DC Deepshikha Sharma honoured BLO Ajitpal Singh of Booth No. 158 in Zira Assembly Constituency as the first BLO in the district to successfully complete the house-to-house enumeration under SIR 2026. His achievement underscores the tireless dedication of field staff working to make electoral rolls accurate, inclusive, and up-to-date.
The Election Department has appealed to all eligible voters to welcome the BLOs during their visits and actively participate in the process.
