Breaking: Punjab Government employees to hold protests today on DA issue, Government declares strike illegal

Chandigarh, September 8, 2026: Punjab Government employees will hold protest today to press for their demands including DA arrears whereas Government has declared their strike illegal.
Working in all Punjab Government offices is expected to likely to be effected on Tuesday as thousands of ministerial staff will stage a protest by taking mass leave.
Sukhchain Khera, convener of the Joint Action Committee of all unions has declared that they will not be cowed down by these tactics. He said that government had transferred him from the Secretariat to the Planning Department office in Sector 33. But they were determined to exercise our democratic right to protest for our genuine demands, to which even the High Court has agreed.
Meanwhile Industry Minister and AAP Punjab head Aman Arora has declared strike illegal and has asserted that government will take action against striking employees.
