Pakistan Mosque Blast: 15 killed, over 50 injured during Friday prayers

Peshawar (Pakistan), September 18, 2026: At least 15 people were killed and more than 50 injured in a powerful explosion near a mosque in Kohat district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during Friday prayers.
The blast occurred outside a mosque in the Police Lines area of Kohat, reportedly leaving a large crater at the site. Several police personnel are among those injured.
Dr Tahir Ali Shah of the District Headquarters Hospital said 15 bodies and more than 50 injured people were brought to the hospital following the explosion. The hospital administration declared an emergency after the incident.
Security forces were deployed in the Police Lines area following the blast, while rescue and relief operations continued at the scene. Authorities have also closed the Kohat-Hangu road to traffic as rescue efforts remain underway.
The cause of the explosion has not yet been confirmed, and further details are awaited.
