Chandigarh, August 24, 2017: Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday asked the Centre to immediately depute forces including paramilitary to further strengthen the security ahead of the pronouncement of verdict by Panchkula-based CBI court in the case related to Sirsa Dera chief Gurmit Ram Rahim.
Hearing a petition, the Division Bench of the HC comprising the Acting Chief Justice Surinder Singh Saron and Justice Avneesh Jhingan said action could be initiated against the Director General of Police in case of failure of the state to ensure security to public and property so that situation similar to Jat stir was not repeated.
At the same time, the Bench expected cooperation from the Sirsa Dera in maintaining peaceful atmosphere.
