PPCB PROPOSES COMPLETE BAN ON PRESSURE HORNS
-SEEKS OBJECTIONS AND SUGGESTIONS FROM ALL STAKE-HOLDERS
Ludhiana, August 26, 2017: Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has proposed to put complete ban on pressure horns, multitone horns and cracker-sound emitting silencers/devices fitted with motorcycles, motor vehicles in the state. Taking a step ahead, PPCB has issued notice to the all stake-holders and general public for inviting objections and suggestions in this regard.
To seek objections and suggestions from all stake-holders and general public, Punjab Pollution Control Board Chairman Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu has sent a letter to all heads of concerned departments and deputy commissioners of the state.
While giving reference of this letter, Mr. Pardeep Kumar Agrawal Deputy Commissionr said that noise has been defined as an air pollutant under the air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, which may tend to be injurious to the human beings & other living creatures if the levels of noise in the ambient air is more than the prescribed standards. PPCB has proposed to put a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, purchase fitting and use of multitone horns, pressure horns and cracker-sound emitting silencers, devices fitted with motorcycles, motor vehicles in the state.
Manufacturers, Dealers, Traders, Mechanics, Shopkeepers and users including the Government Transport Authorities may send their objections and suggestions on email of the board i.e.msppcb@gmail.com or through registered post addressed to Member Secretary, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Vatavaran Bhawan, Nabha Road, Patiala, he added.
