Amazon India signs MoU with Army Welfare Placement Org to create career opportunities for veterans, military spouses, and war widows

New Delhi, September 16, 2025: Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Army Welfare Placement Organization (AWPO), an establishment under the Indian Army, to provide meaningful career opportunities for veterans, military spouses, and war widows.
Under the partnership, Amazon India will share job openings with AWPO and conduct awareness programs including webinars and workshops to guide prospective applicants. The initiative aims to support the transition of military families into civilian careers by offering tailored recruitment pathways, training, and development programs.
“Veterans and military spouses exemplify leadership, resilience, and operational excellence. This partnership with AWPO is a vital step in deepening our support for ex-service personnel and their families,” said Deepti Varma, VP – People Experience and Technology, Amazon Stores India, Japan, and Emerging Markets.
Maj Gen Ajay Singh Chauhan (Retd.), Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal, Managing Director of AWPO, said the collaboration will help veterans, spouses, and war widows access structured employment opportunities, fostering economic independence and well-being.
Amazon already employs hundreds of veterans in India and supports them through tailored interview preparation, mentorship networks like Warriors at Amazon, and career progression pathways. This collaboration also reflects Amazon’s global commitment to inclusive hiring, expanding opportunities for underrepresented groups including women, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, veterans, and now military spouses and war widows.
