Tarn Taran (Punjab), October 19, 2025: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Principal Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa continued her vigorous campaign trail in the Tarn Taran constituency on Sunday, reaching out to locals and strengthening the party’s grassroots connect ahead of the upcoming by-election.
Randhawa began her day with a visit to Gurdwara Sahib of Bibi Veero in village Jhabal Kalan, where she, along with party leader Surmukh Singh, attended a funeral prayer and expressed condolences to the bereaved family, praying for peace to the departed soul.

During the day, Baljit Singh, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader from village Sarai Amanat Kha, quit AAP and joined the Shiromani Akali Dal, giving a boost to the SAD camp.
Later, Randhawa chaired a meeting at village Cheema Shukar Chak at the residence of Chairman Jasbir Singh, where discussions revolved around the upcoming Tarn Taran bypoll (Jimni election) and local development issues.
A well-known figure in the region, Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa—popularly known as “Principal”—had earlier supported Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh during the 2024 general elections. Now, as the SAD’s official candidate for Tarn Taran, she is being seen as the party’s key face to regain lost ground in the constituency.
The Tarn Taran seat fell vacant following the demise of AAP MLA Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal last month.
With campaigning gaining pace, Randhawa’s consistent outreach is seen as SAD’s effort to consolidate traditional support and reclaim its stronghold in the region.
