Tarn Taran (Punjab), October 19, 2025: The Congress campaign in Tarn Taran gained momentum as Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa joined party candidate Karanbir Singh Burj during his election outreach in the constituency.
Both leaders paid obeisance at the Sant Baba Avtar Singh Maharaj Ji Satsang Temple in Rampura Sulakul, where they received blessings and interacted with devotees. Bajwa was accompanied by former MLAs Harminder Singh Gill and Sukhwinder Singh Danny Bandala.
Burj, who serves as the vice-president of the Tarn Taran District Congress Committee, hails from a traditional Congress family. A respected agriculturist and realtor, he has deep roots in the constituency and is known for his strong connection with local voters.

Earlier in the day, Bajwa addressed a gathering of ETT teachers protesting in Tarn Taran, assuring them that their “genuine demands” would be resolved once the Congress returns to power in 2027. He also appealed to the teachers and the public to extend full support to Burj in the November 11 bypoll.
Party insiders say Bajwa’s active presence in Tarn Taran has provided a significant boost to Burj’s campaign, consolidating grassroots support for the Congress in a high-stakes contest.
The last date for filing nominations is October 21, while the scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on October 22. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 24.
The bypoll has been necessitated by the death of ruling party’s MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal in June. The voting will be held on November 11, and the counting of votes will be conducted on November 14.
