Indian Overseas Congress accord warm welcome to Manish Tewari, Pawan Dewan

Sydney (Australia), May 17, 2026 : Former Union Information & Broadcasting Minister and Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari, accompanied by Senior Congress leader Pawan Dewan, was accorded a rousing reception upon their arrival in Sydney. The welcome was hosted by Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Australia president Manoj Sheoran, who greeted the leaders with warmth and emphasized the enduring bond between the Indian diaspora and the Congress leadership.
It is noteworthy that Tewari is scheduled to attend an international conference in Sydney. In addition, he will hold a series of meetings with office bearers of the IOC in both Sydney and Melbourne, underlining the Congress party’s sustained outreach to overseas Indians.
The visit reflects the importance of diaspora engagement in strengthening cultural and political ties across continents.
Speaking on the occasion, Tewari remarked, “Indian Overseas Congress has always played a pivotal role in the party’s functioning. It is extremely significant to hold deliberations to get a grasp of issues concerning the Indian diaspora in Australia.” He extended heartfelt thanks to Manoj Sheoran and IOC members for their gracious hospitality, noting that such interactions reinforce the global connect of the Congress.
On this occasion, apart from IOC Australia president Manoj Sheoran, prominent among others present include IOC Australia Coordinator Preet Bal, Punjab Chapter Gurjinder Singh Gavy, Indian Overseas Youth Congress Australia president Abhishek Gagneja, Indian Overseas Congress Australia, Rajasthan Chapter President Harinder Bhatti and Roop Sharma.
