Chandigarh, June 14, 2026: The Punjab BJP has raised questions over alleged photographs and videos showing Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Mann with a person who has reportedly been named in multiple criminal cases related to drug trafficking and illegal smuggling activities.
Addressing the media, BJP Punjab State Media Head and Kharar Assembly Constituency Chief Sevadar Vineet Joshi alleged that the images and videos suggest a close association between the MLA and an individual facing serious criminal allegations. He claimed the matter raises concerns about possible political patronage and its implications for the state's anti-drug campaign.
Joshi said the issue also raises questions about the Punjab Government's ongoing drive against narcotics and the "zero tolerance" policy repeatedly highlighted by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
According to Joshi, the individual in question appears in photographs and videos allegedly shared on the MLA's social media accounts. He claimed that some of these images were posted after a criminal case had reportedly been registered against the individual, prompting public scrutiny.
The BJP leader further alleged that Binder Singh, Sarpanch of Masol village in Kharar tehsil, was arrested in connection with a case registered in April 2025 involving the recovery of poppy husk. He said the accused was later released on bail. Joshi also referred to another FIR registered in June 2026, alleging that the individual was detained under suspicious circumstances and reportedly tested positive in a dope test.
He further claimed that Binder Singh's name had earlier surfaced in a 2022 case linked to the alleged smuggling of illegally cut khair trees and that similar allegations had reportedly emerged in Haryana.
Demanding a clarification, Joshi urged the Aam Aadmi Party and MLA Anmol Gagan Mann to publicly respond to the allegations and explain their position on the matter.
Notably, these allegations have been made by BJP leader Vineet Joshi, and no response from MLA Anmol Gagan Mann or the Aam Aadmi Party was immediately available at the time of reporting.
