New Delhi, June 15: Manish Singh, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 2013 batch from the Gujarat cadre, has been appointed as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on a lateral shift basis.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Singh was serving as Director in the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), where he contributed to various initiatives aimed at strengthening policing practices, capacity building, and law enforcement reforms across the country.
The National Human Rights Commission, India's apex statutory body for the protection and promotion of human rights, plays a vital role in addressing complaints of human rights violations, reviewing safeguards, and promoting awareness of human rights issues.
As Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Singh will be entrusted with important responsibilities related to investigations, law enforcement coordination, and the effective functioning of the Commission.
Mr. Singh's appointment is expected to further strengthen the NHRC's institutional capabilities and enhance its efforts to ensure justice, accountability, and the protection of citizens' rights.
His experience in policing and policy development is likely to contribute significantly to the Commission's mandate of safeguarding human rights across the country.
