Army honours Dr Edison Eric, SMO for exemplary services in 'Operation Sindoor'

Fazilka, June 15, 2026: In a historic achievement for Fazilka district, Dr. Edison Eric, Senior Medical Officer (SMO) at the District Hospital Fazilka, has been conferred with a prestigious honour by the Indian Army for his outstanding medical services during ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Sapta Shakti Command (South Western Command), presented the special commendation to Dr. Eric in a grand ceremony. The senior Army officer felicitated him with a memento in the presence of other senior military officers and personnel, praising his dedication and exemplary performance.
The honour recognises Dr. Edison Eric’s courage, exceptional dedication, and superior medical management during the critical phase of the Army’s ‘Operation Sindoor’. It is a rare and historic feat for a civilian doctor from Punjab, particularly from Fazilka district, to receive such high-level recognition from the Indian Army.
District administration, health department officials, and local residents have expressed immense pride in this achievement. They noted that the honour will serve as a major inspiration for other healthcare workers in the district to serve with full commitment and humanity.
Dr. Edison Eric has previously been recognised multiple times for his outstanding contributions in the health sector. In November 2025, he was awarded the prestigious DGP Disc by the SSP Fazilka. He has also received honours on Independence Day (15 August) and Republic Day (26 January).
These repeated recognitions highlight Dr. Eric’s unwavering commitment to healthcare services and his sense of responsibility towards patients. The latest honour from the Indian Army adds yet another glorious chapter to his distinguished service record.
