Amritsar (Punjab), June 27, 2026:The General House of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Saturday passed a resolution seeking the registration of an FIR against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and certain Punjab Police officials over an alleged controversial viral video. The House also demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister.
Announcing the decision after the General House meeting, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said the resolution was passed after the committee found the Chief Minister's reply to the SGPC's notice to be neither satisfactory nor based on factual evidence.
Dhami said the General House resolved that legal proceedings, including the registration of an FIR, should be initiated against Chief Minister Mann and the officials concerned over the alleged fabrication of evidence linked to the viral video.
He further announced that an SGPC delegation comprising members of the interim committee would meet Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav to press for the registration of an FIR against the Chief Minister and the police officials named in the resolution. The delegation will also raise objections to the forensic report prepared by a Gurugram-based laboratory, which the SGPC has questioned.
Apart from seeking legal action, the General House also called for Bhagwant Mann's resignation, alleging that he had hurt Sikh religious sentiments and misused the authority of his constitutional office in connection with the alleged incident.
The SGPC resolution further alleged that evidence related to the controversial video had been fabricated and urged the authorities to conduct a fair and impartial investigation into the matter.
