Chandigarh, June 27, 2026: A district court in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Saturday granted bail to all four Nihang Sikhs arrested in connection with the June 16 Karnaprayag clash case.
The four accused had been lodged in judicial custody following the incident, which had sparked tensions in the region.
The bail was granted by the court of District and Sessions Judge Bindhyachal Singh at Gopeshwar. While allowing the bail applications, the court observed that the trial and further legal proceedings in the case would continue in accordance with law.
The bail orders came after talks between representatives of the Nihang Sikh community and the Uttarakhand Government reportedly resulted in an understanding over the handling of the case. During the discussions, the State Government also assured that justice would be ensured through due legal process. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also assured that the matter would be dealt with fairly and in accordance with the law.
The Karnaprayag incident had triggered widespread concern among members of the Sikh community, following which several organisations demanded a fair and impartial investigation. Authorities have appealed to all concerned to maintain peace and harmony while the judicial process continues.
