Punjab BJP delegation meet Gov Kataria, seeks 50 additional MBBS, PG seats; Watch Video

Chandigarh, June 27, 2026: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation, led by Chandigarh BJP President Jatinder Pal Malhotra, met Chandigarh Administrator and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Saturday to discuss the expansion of medical education and key development projects in the Union Territory.
The delegation, which also included BJP State Vice Presidents Davinder Singh Babla, Indira Singh and Raj Kishore, urged the Administrator to facilitate the addition of 50 MBBS seats and 50 postgraduate (PG) medical seats in Chandigarh.

According to the BJP, the demand has already been placed before the Central Government, and following the discussions with the Administrator, the party is hopeful that a decision could be taken within the next 10 days.
Speaking after the meeting, Jatinder Pal Malhotra described the discussions as positive and said the Administrator had assured the delegation that the issues would be examined and appropriate directions would be issued to the concerned departments.
The delegation also sought faster implementation of pending development projects, improvement in civic amenities and timely resolution of public issues in Chandigarh.
Malhotra said the BJP remains committed to strengthening healthcare, education and infrastructure in Chandigarh and expressed confidence that the party’s efforts would yield positive results in the near future.
