Breaking: AAP sweeps Jalalabad Municipal Council Polls, Wins 12 of 17 wards

Jalalabad (Punjab), July 5, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) registered a decisive victory in the Jalalabad Municipal Council elections, winning 12 of the 17 wards and consolidating its position in the town's local body.
According to the election results, the Congress secured victory in four wards, while the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) managed to win one ward. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to win a single seat.
The outcome is being seen as a significant boost for the ruling AAP in Punjab ahead of future electoral contests.
Following the results, Jalalabad MLA Jagdeep Singh 'Goldie' Kamboj congratulated all the winning AAP candidates and thanked the voters for reposing faith in the party.
He described the victory as a reflection of the public's confidence in the AAP government's policies and development agenda, and assured residents that the elected councillors would work collectively to accelerate the town's development and address civic issues.
